Chairman of the House Internal Affairs Committee expresses his deep dissatisfaction with the situation of Libyan travelers at the Salloum border crossing with Egypt.

     Tobruk, 25 May 2022 (Lana) The chairman of the Internal Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, Suleiman Al Harari expressed the committee's deep displeasure with the situation of Libyan travelers to the Republic of Egypt through the border crossing of Al Salloum, expressing regret and astonishment at the bad-degrading treatment of Libyan nationals the border by the responsible Egyptian authorities, which did not exclude even humanitarian cases requiring special treatment.

Al Harari also expressed his disapproval of the Egyptian authorities imposing new entry fees on Libyans wishing to enter through the port, stressing that the imposition of these exorbitant fees does not correspond to the depth of historical relations between the two countries, calling on the Libyan authorities not to be dragged, and take retaliatory measures against Egyptian citizens in Libya, and that the treatment must be in accordance with the correct law and full respect for them.

He reiterated his call for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Ministry of Interior to intensify work with the Egyptian side, in order to improve the conditions in the port, and to eliminate the fees recently imposed.

  The chairman of the Internal Affairs Committee appealed to the Egyptian authorities to take urgent action on what is happening at the Salloum crossing, warning that the continuation of these conditions will have a negative impact on relations between the two brotherly countries.
