Tripoli, May 17, 2022 (LANA) - The Arab Parliament warned today of the danger of leaving the Libyan state prey to waves of violence between the conflicting parties.

This came in his statement issued against the backdrop of the armed clashes that took place in the capital, Tripoli, this morning, expressing concern about these developments, according to the text of the statement.

The parliament said in its statement that the new waves of violence in Libya will take the country towards a dangerous trend that will destroy all efforts made to restore stability and security to it.

He also called on the Libyan parties to exercise restraint, to rule the mind, and to give priority to the supreme national interest, in order to preserve the lives and capabilities of the Libyan people, and to get out of this critical stage with minimal losses.

The Arab Parliament affirmed its full support for everything that would contribute to the return of stability to the Libyan state and the return of the language of dialogue  between its various parties, leading to the holding of legislative and presidential elections.

The statement stressed the importance of the meetings of the joint constitutional process committee between the House of Representatives and the state hosted by the Egyptian capital Cairo under the auspices of the United Nations to push forward towards strengthening security and stability in Libya and achieving the aspirations of its people for a decent life.

In its statement, the Arab Parliament stressed that Libya is going through a critical stage in its history, which requires everyone to stand united and agree on specific mechanisms and turn the pages of differences, as well as stop foreign interference, in preparation for Libya's return to its position and its active role at the Arab, regional and international levels.
