Media outlets are circulating the news of the arrest of the Minister of Health, Ali Al-Zanati, based on an order from the Public Prosecutor, Al-Siddiq Al-Sour.

Tripoli, January 25, 2022  - Some local media and media websites circulated today, Tuesday, the news that the “Deterrence Force” had arrested the Minister of Health in the National Unity Government, Ali Al-Zanati, at Maitiga Airport, by order of the Attorney General, Al-Siddiq Al-Sour.

The media published a copy of the letter of Representative Al-Siddiq Al-Sour, regarding the travel ban issued against the Minister of Health and his deputy regarding financial abuses and violations, based on a report issued by the Audit Bureau.

The letter of the Attorney General was addressed to the head of the Passports, Nationality and Foreign Affairs Department, and stated, “With reference to the ongoing investigations we have in the report submitted by the President of the Audit Bureau regarding the violations and abuses committed in the facts related to the supply and installation of oxygen plants and medical centers.

The letter added: "It requests that those concerned not be allowed to leave the Minister of Health, Ali Al-Zanati, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in the Government of National Unity, for technical affairs and the Bureau, Samir Koko, any internal or international destination, except after reviewing the Attorney General's office."

The official pages did not publish anything confirming or denying the validity of the news of stopping the Minister of Health.
