Guterres confirms that Williams is conducting all forms of mediation to hold Libyan elections in the first quarter of this year.

Tripoli, 22 January 2022 (Lana) UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said his Special Adviser to Libya, Stephanie Williams, was conducting all contacts and all forms of mediation, in order to create conditions for elections in Libya, to be held in the first quarter of this year.
"I think this is very important for the Libyan people," Guterres said at a press conference to set his priorities in 2022.
With regard to any elections to be held first, the Secretary General stressed that this option was in the hands of the Libyan people, noting that parliamentary and presidential elections should have been held together before the end of last year.
