Moscow, December 09, 2021 (LANA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his hope that the Libyan elections will be held on schedule, and will lead to stabilizing the situation in this country.

Putin said in press statements after his meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday, "We talked at length about the eastern Mediterranean, including Libya, and we proceed from the fact that the planned elections there will take place on the agreed date and lead to the establishment of stability in the country."

He added, according to the Russian TASS news agency, saying, "We are in contact on this issue with all concerned parties, including the main European Union countries and Turkey, and I hope that solutions will be found that suit everyone and lead to permanent stability."
