The Foreign Minister of Tunisia and the head of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission in Libya discuss efforts to support stability in Libya.

Tunisia, August 28, 2021 (LANA) - Tunisian Foreign Minister, Othman Al-Jarandi, expressed his country's keenness to cooperate constructively with the mechanisms of the Human Rights Council and the international efforts to support and stabilize Libya.

This came during his meeting with the head of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission in Libya, "Mohamed Aujar," accompanied by the coordinator and head of the secretariat of the UN mission in Libya, "Mohamed Abu Harthiya," according to what the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on its official page.

Al-Jarandi also affirmed Tunisia's readiness to provide technical and logistical support to the mission's team to provide it with appropriate accommodation conditions in his country, similar to other UN structures.

For his part, Aujar expressed the mission's appreciation for Tunisia's hosting of its headquarters and the facilities it provides to it to implement its mandate fully, so that it can submit its first report to the Human Rights Council during the 48th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, to be held from September 13 to October 8, 2021. .

The head of the mission briefed the Tunisian Foreign Minister on the most important features of her mandate and the contents of the work of the team of investigators, as required by the resolution of the Human Rights Council establishing it and adopted in June 2020.
